Pas Normal Studios x Oakley Cycling Collaboration
PNS and Oakley have joined forces on a limited-edition release of cycling kit and sunglasses. Both companies are well known for performance and style which makes for a natural partnership. The kit includes the PNS Mechanism Jersey and Bib Shorts with Oakley accents. The sunglasses are classic Oakleys with PNS custom frame and lens color combos: Radar EV Path and Encoder Strike. There are also some off-bike casual clothes and sunglasses available.
PNS x Oakley Radar EV Path Off-White with Prizm Tungsten
The Radar is an Oakley classic. With today’s cycling sunglasses rivaling ski goggles for lens size, it’s nice to see a more conservative lens that still provides ample coverage. The EV version has a taller lens which makes them great for cyclists who need a large vertical field of view. The lens is also very wide for full peripheral coverage. A nice touch is the round cutouts at the bottom of the lens to allow clearance for high cheeks. Sunglasses always sit on my wife’s cheeks, not her nose, but the Radar fit her perfectly without any cheek contact.
PNS customized the Radar with a muted color palette of off-white frames, purple Oakley logos, and a Prizm Tungsten lens with ‘Pas Normal Studios’ etched between the brows. The dark brown lens is not mirrored but does an excellent job of attenuating bright sunlight. My favorite part about the lens is how it makes green and yellow colors pop with intensity. Green fields and forests look amazing through this lens.
The Radar temple arms are curved and flexible for a secure hold. The arms are not overly long so don’t interfere with my helmet retention system like other glasses. The black rubber arm coverings hold well to make sure there is no unwanted movement. Gripping at the other end are two swapable nose pads that allow adjustment of how high the Radar sits on your nose.
Bottom Line
Excellent function and fit. Lens with beautiful color enhancement and contrast. Classic looks that should always be in style. A good compliment to PNS kit.
