My expensive cycling shoes are killing my feet! When I ride more than three hours, my left big toe takes such a beating that it bleeds. I have tried loosening the straps and wearing thinner socks but nothing helps. My feet are wide at the toes, American size 11, D or E. Can I fix these shoes?
I just bought a pair of expensive road shoes online and they're slightly too large. I know -- I should have gotten them from my local bike shop and tried them on first. But the deed is done, so is there any way to make them fit? They're fine with thicker socks but I want to wear conventional thin cycling socks.
I suffer from "hot foot" when doing long rides. I understand that a metatarsal bump built into an insole just behind the ball of the foot would spread my metatarsal bones and relieve the nerve pressure that causes the discomfort. I've heard that insoles made this way come in Specialized Body Geometry shoes, but I don't want to buy new shoes. Are the insoles sold separately?
