Castelli Climber’s 2.0 Jersey and Inferno Bibs

Castelli Climbers 2.0 Jersey.WEBCastelli is known for high-quality, pro-level gear. I’ve never been disappointed with Castelli apparel, and the Climber’s 2.0 jersey and Inferno bib shorts continue that run. Both get high marks in performance, comfort and style. You may or may not feel like a Team Sky member as you cut through the air in this aero kit. But best of all, you'll stay comfortable and dry even on the hottest of days.

Funkier Firenze Merlot Jersey and Archille Bibs (Men's & Women's)

FunkierFirenzeJersey.WEBI’m glad I asked my fellow club riders about their Funkier gear. They turned me onto a real find. With three different lines to choose from—Active, Pro, Elite—you are bound to discover the right style and fit to meet your needs. The company has ably achieved its goal of providing high-quality yet affordable cycling apparel. You could easily pay double or triple these prices for some other brands. And don’t let the name scare you off. If you tend to wear more conservative kits, the styles are not wild and crazy. There’s something for everyone—male, female or kid.

GRACEDBYGRIT Cycling Jersey

GracedByGrit.front.WEBWomen-owned and run GRACEDBYGRIT’s first venture into cycling apparel hits a high mark. The incredibly soft fabric, good fit and high performance were spot-on. And you can’t beat getting compliments when you wear it. I think one of the key statements on the company’s website sums up their type of customer. “Every woman has experienced that difficult moment that she thinks might just break her. How we make it through those moments defines us. We have realized that our grittiest moments give us our grace. Every woman has been GRACEDBYGRIT."

Coeur Sports Cycling Zipper Bib Shorts; Terry Bella Prima Bib Shorts

CoeurSports.ZipperBibs.WEBThe number one reason many female riders have not embraced wearing bibs is the inconvenience of nature breaks. If you are an avid reader of my product reviews, you know I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect design. Leave it to two women-run companies to develop two innovative designs: Coeur Sports and Terry. While the two designs are vastly different in the way they approached the bathroom break dilemma, they both work quite well. If you’ve been wanting to try bibs for the first time, either of these designs are priced right and provide easy on/off features.

Jules Threads Women’s Dot Jersey and Bibs

JulesThreads.Dot.Jersey.WEBThis cycling apparel company started life with a small line of gear, but all the pieces are winners. Offering high quality, unique designs and great performance garments at an affordable price make the Jules Threads kit one of my favorites. I see a very bright future for this woman-owned company and can’t wait to see their Fall/Winter collection. I liked the Dots test kit so much that I bought myself the Stripes kit as well. It’s not that I need another kit, but I wanted another kit that so ably combines style and performance.

Pearl Izumi P.R.O. Pursuit Bib Shorts (Women's & Men's)

PearlIzumiWomensPROPursuitBibShorts.WEB

PearlIzumiMensPROPursuitBibShorts.Back.WEBPearl Izumi's P.R.O. Pursuit bib shorts with the new Pursuit 1:1 chamois is a winner. At $180 (USD) for the women's version, and $195 for the men's, the P.R.O. Pursuit offers a good value for high-end bib shorts. Great comfort, moisture transfer, and fit with the right amount of compression makes it great for indoor trainer rides or a long outdoor adventure. These bibs were very dry even after a 50-mile ride in Santa Cruz on a warm, sunny day, and on a century ride in the late spring Georgia heat. Pearl Izumi succeeded in pursuing a winner.

Pearl Izumi Women’s P.R.O. Escape Bib Shorts

PearlIzumiWomensPROEscapeBibs.front.WEBI’ve worn Pearl Izumi products for many years, but never tried their P.R.O. level of apparel (except gloves), Pearl's top of the line. I’m very particular when it comes to chamois comfort, and my first impression of the P.R.O. Escape women’s bibs was very favorable regarding the chamois, as well as the bibs overall. I found the chamois to provide lasting comfort on rides of any length, and the bibs to be sleek and stylish, with nice touches and an overall comfortable fit.

OORR BOORRD Room Men's Pro Kit

OORRBOORDRoomMensProJersey.WEBOORRBOORDRoomMensProBibs.WEBOverall, I found the jersey and bibs to be very solid garments and I could find no issues related to the recycled content. You simply would never know from the form/fit/function that you are wearing old plastic bottles and used coffee grounds. I applaud OORR for their efforts to make this kit more environmentally friendly and hope to see more manufacturers following suit. As an environmentally friendly option, you can't go wrong with the OORR kit's top-notch comfort and performance.

OORR Cafe Pro Women's Jersey, Bib Shorts

OORRWomensJersey.WEB1OORRWomensBibs.WEB

Bottom line, I really liked this kit. Between the excellent moisture control, comfort and all-day-ride capable chamois, I give it high marks. The fact that the company is committed to developing eco-friendly apparel is a huge bonus to me. I look forward to OORR expanding its line to include sports bras and other apparel. The unique fabric would be ideal for a variety of sports-related garments. I’ll be keeping my eye on them.

Roka Pro All-Season Jersey, Pro Bib Shorts

ROKA MENS JERSEY ALL SEASON DARK SLATE FRONT wide grande.WEBROKA MENS BIB DARK SLATE 008 grande.WEBROKA is an American company based in Dallas, Texas, that focuses on triathlon apparel but in late 2015 released its first line of cycling clothing (with running apparel due to be released soon to complete the triathlon trifecta). Knowing that ROKA was reknowned for making comfortable wetsuits, I had high expectations for the comfort and fit of the company's cycling clothing. I put their jersey and bibs through serious miles and weather this spring – and I was not disappointed.

7mesh S2S Jersey, MK1 Bib Shorts

7mesh S2S Jersey M 2BallBlue.WEB7mesh MK1 Bibs.WEB

I love the subdued styling of the 7mesh kit. There are no crazy colors or huge logos, just classic earthy hues with a small 7mesh logo. Durability has been great through many washings and even a couple cyclocross training wipeouts that the fabrics weathered just fine. The S2S jersey is an entirely different approach to jersey construction that focuses on better moisture management, but it falls a bit short for high summer heat riding. The MK1 bib shorts are easily one of the most comfortable bibs that I have ever used.
