Seen on-Road

Decisions, decisions....
(Jon Adler)

We all spend lots of time on the road. And if our eyes aren't glued to someone's rear wheel, we might see some very interesting sights -- for better or worse!

Just for fun, here's a collection of road names, license plates, billboards, mailboxes and other things that roadies may (or may not!) want to come upon.

The uncredited images were shot by RBR's Ed Pavelka, but this page really depends on you!

Have a cool sign on one of your roads? E-mail a digital photo to publisher@roadbikerider.com. Or snail-mail your snapshot to RBR Publishing Company, 1617 Kramer Rd., Kutztown, PA 19530 USA. Please include a SASE if you want the photo returned.

Include your pithy comment or info tidbit. If we use your photo, we'll say thanks with a free RBR eBook. Choose from  Basic Training, Off-Season Training, Spring Training, Supercharge Your Training or Bicycle Commuting for Fun & Profit.

It could be the guy's initials -- or a Bosox fan who just can't let it go.

It can be risky,
 eating on the road.
(Jon Adler)

Some roads aren't as good as others, and sometimes the DOT gives us hints.
 (Mike Munk)

It's out there somewhere.
 Can you find it?
(Ed Goss)

"This happened the day I beat the field in my local shop's 'A' ride," says
Craig Provonsha

On Mackinac Island, MI, bikes and horses are the only forms of transportation permitted.
No cars!
 (Doug Levy)

So tell me something I don't know!
(Doug Levy)

There's one villain who'd do well to stay out of Tombstone, AZ. They already have a spot picked out on Boot Hill.

The South shall rise again, but first things first...

Don't go chaput! Wear your helmet every time you ride.
 (Peggy Siegel)

This loop road intersects the Bay area's Old LaHonda Rd. twice. The second time is near the top of the 3.4-mile climb, just when you're thinking, "This is up enough!"
 (Lorri Lee Lown)

Rich Lesnik says it felt like he was in a David Lynch movie when he reached this California town during a cross-country ride.

Relax, guys. It's just a farm supply store in Homer, Alaska.
 (John Brown)
After 12K at 10% you get this for the final 3K on a climb in Italy's Dolomites. Ouch!
(Drew Geer)
We assume this is a suggestion to pedal one, not eliminate one!
Scary, but the major must have been an army officer because the biggest hill on this road is about 30 pedal strokes long. Whew!
Yes, it's true -- Arizona rocks for roadies!

This cool plate was spotted on a Toyota pickup at a road race near Boulder. We can identify!

Not till Keith Richards stops playing, it won't.
